How will Maxwell Respond?

This is going to be a long season for the green and white if Maxwell can't find a way to work in the passing game.  I mean, come on, how many times are you going to use Bell before the defense figures out how to stop him?  Bell is amazing, but lets mix it up a little...  Until Maxwell settles in, the Spartans are going to have to work extra hard on the offensive line.  This was his first big test against a talented and highly regarded team.  It was obvious, Maxwell is still learning. He didn't have time in the pocket like he did against Boise State and Central Michigan. Man, I can just see Dantonio now; making the Offensive line watch the tapes over and over again....
Maxwell was 23/45 with 187 years with no TD's.  On the positive side, he did not have an interception.  Our running game was not much better when you look at Bell, who only had 77 yards averaging 4.1 yards a carry.   Now, the only play worth talking about was when Bell high jumped a defender to gain a few yards. How does he do it?  Bell Will go down as one of the "GREATS".  Runner, Receiver, Blocker and now, High Jumper.

Ok Maxwell, This is your time to show us what you are made of.  You NEED to come out and play aggressive and act like a leader!!!

Wisconsin was Taken to School!

Greene's NBA moves
Green and White had one hell of a game at the Breslin Center with both Appling and Greene scoring 20 points each, leading the charge towards the annihilation.  MSU is now the only team shooting over 50% against the Badgers this season.  Now that's pretty remarkable..... Going into the game, I was concerned about State not having a deep bench due to a few minor injuries, but thanks to a few players stepping it up, the spartans were able to have some fun. Thornton played solid defense and went 3 for 3 in the field and Nix went 5 for 7.

Taylor just couldn't get with the program for Wisconsin... He came off an amazing game against Minnesota, but his streak was over.  This would have been a much different game if he would have shown up.  Then again, the spartans have the touch and fans behind them on the home court making them almost impossible to beat.... Bottom line, Izzo has prepared his team well and they are moving in the right direction heading into March, which is just around the corner.  If State keeps playing like they did against Wisconsin, they could be looking at another final 4! Keep bringing it.....

IZZO's 400th WIN!!!!!!

Congratulations IZZO for an amazing career.  Closing the big 400 at the Breslin Center.  Michigan State has been fortunate to have back to back legacies.  First, Jud Heathcote with 418 wins under his belt during his career, not all from MSU (1976-1995) to IZZO following in his footsteps with his 400th victory, all during his career at MSU.  How impressive is that?  Only four other coaches have ever reached that milestone in the Big Ten.
Players, fans and parents respect the drive. passion and heart that IZZO brings to the game, his team and family.  He teaches life lessons on and off the court, which makes him a true leader and mentor.  In order to be a major success, one has to reach down and dig deep and not be afraid to show compassion, discipline, love and sometimes knock down a few egos that get in the way.....

WAY TO GO, IZZO!!!!!!!

Michigan State Blocks the Field Goal to Win the Outback Bowl!!!

It was worth the wait.....  VICTORY

Michigan State and the fans have been waiting for this moment for sometime now.  We can finally say that the Spartans are the real deal.  Yes, the game had some ups and downs, but one thing you can always say about the green and white; they NEVER give up!!!  Take a look at the triple overtime block for the win, above.

Cousins may have had a difficult bowl game, but he should still receive the game ball due to his efforts this season.  He is an amazing leader with an incredible work ethic.  What an example for the underclassman and the university.  This is a prime example of what our children should be looking up to.

Congratulations Michigan State!!!!!!  Go Green....

One for the History Books! Michigan State Wins 37- 31

Michigan State winning Hail Mary Pass

You cannot write this any better than how it played out.  This games was a once in a lifetime for these players.  31 to 31 with 46 seconds left and Cousins almost blows it by getting the ball stripped; thankfully France was able to jump on the ball for the recovery.  You could just feel your heart skip a beat.  Then you think, OK this game is going into overtime.  With 4 seconds left on the clock, Cousins just drops back and throws over 50 yards praying for a miracle.  The ball bounces off a Badger and lands in of all people, Nichol's hands. Wow, this is one for the Spartans history books.

Spartans are now 3 - 0 in the Big Ten and 6 - 1 overall.  Saturday they take on the Huskers, which is not going to be a walk in the park.  It will be another close game, but with Cousin's leadership and Bell & Caper on the ground, they should be able to keep the streak alive.

Michigan goes down four consecutive years!

The Spartans sprinted onto the field in the new special combat uniforms, which are supported by Nike.  They were showing up to win and they played like warriors.  Michigan tried to compete so they wore the "legacy" uniforms by Adidas. That is so U of M (ish)....  They actually looked like Tony the tiger. I guess it doesn't matter, it only comes down to one thing; who has the talent to go home with the Paul Bunyan Trophy!

Hey Michigan, how many defensive players does it take to bring Baker down?

Michigan State beats Michigan 28 to 14 on Saturday.  It would have been much worse if State was actually allowed to play and not charged for every penalty in the book.  Come on, 6 unnecessary roughness calls, 15 years each.  Yes, I guess you can say emotions were running high, "Little Brother" felt like taking "Big Brother" to the mat.  The Spartans defense was amped up.

Cousins will go out on top of his senior year being the first QB to beat the Wolverines three year in a row.  Kirk completed 13 out of 24 passes, an average of 54% & he had 2 TD's.  This was not one of his best games, but at least he did not have any turnovers and he played with consistency.

Baker had an awesome game.  He ran for 167 yards averaging 6.5 yards a carry along with 1 TD .  He is just so much fun to watch; low to ground, quick and has the most explosive speed! It will be interesting to see what he can do with one more year of eligibility.  Lets just hope he works his magic against Wisconsin this week.  We need this win.
